KENYA
Bible Society Australia’s project for 2010
Resting on the eastern edge of Africa, Kenya is utterly breathtaking
– from the highest snowy peak of Mt Kenya to its lowest lake, pink
with flamingos. In the north the desert is a stark contrast to the
lush farmlands of the central and western regions, and in the east
you’ll find the coastline of the Indian Ocean. The people of Kenya are
equally diverse, coming from many tribes, cultures, and traditions.
For many years God has been at the heart of Kenya, 78% of the
population being Christian. But in recent times, political tension and
unrest has shaken the foundations of this proud nation. Poverty,
disease, unemployment and illiteracy are providing fertile ground
for fear and discouragement. This year, the Bible Society’s Kenya
Project aims to raise US$80,000 (about A$100,000) to bring the focus
back to God through the provision of God’s Word.
All materials for the project are available on line except for the 4min DVD.
